Schools, instructors, administration, parents, and students face many challenges in their collaboration on the behalf of the student population. Some of the changes and challenges facing these individuals include:
- changing population trends
- declining government support
- georgraphical and economic disparity
- recruitment and training of professionals
- mobility
- lack of consensus among professionals and programs
- technological changes, etc
How does this impact my child?
School psychologists and schools are asked to do more with less while adhering to standards developed at a state and national level. The institutional responsiveness to significant issues impacting students, such as the lack of reading progress, is slow and confusing. While all of this is going on, your child still needs to be successful in school. Individualization in an overpopulated, underfunded environment makes this extremely challenging for everyone concerned, not the least of which for the parent who is attempting to support their child in a system they quite often don't understand. Coordinating all the support services required to produce a successful student can be overwhelming and non-existent.
What can I do?
Our state licensed and nationally certified school psychologists are trained in the navigation of the school system and support services including: assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of academic and mental health disorders, exceptional student education, medical management support to medical professionals treating students, community services collaboration, educational program designed around individualized needs, and more.
